Nothing too exciting happened during the week. Just working and running errands. On Friday afternoon, we went bowling with a Peace Corps friend and had a blast. AM bought her first scratch-off lottery ticket and won $40. I’ve seen hundreds of those things played over my life but never seen one win. That night, we went to a few bars near our apartment, played pool, and had some drinks.

The big news for the week is that I bought a car on Saturday! My Subaru broke down a couple of weeks ago causing quite a lot of stress about getting to work. I figured it’s finally time I buy something reliable that I don’t have to worry about fixing all the time. I bought a pre-owned Toyota Yaris. It’s a no-frills, slow, fuel-efficient, and ultra-reliable car that will hopefully last me a really long time. No bells, no whistles (not even cruise control!), just four wheels that will get me to where I’m going every day. I’ve only ever paid cash for beater cars on Craigslist so taking on a loan for a car was a bit uncomfortable but I think the peace of mind is well worth it.
