In 2001 university friends Vyacheslav Klymov and Volodymyr Popereshnuyk saw an opportunity to build an express delivery market in Ukraine. The service did not exist in the country at that time, so the budding businessmen set themselves on a track to create a new company: Nova Post.
More than 23 years later, Nova Post has grown from a few branches in one city to 11,500 branches across the country. Now also known as the international group of companies, NOVA, the organization operates in 11 European countries and is one of the largest employers in Ukraine.
To provide fast delivery and high-quality service, the company has built its own sorting infrastructure and prioritizes the development of digital services and implementation of innovative technologies. Part of that technology journey has included the creation of its own IT company, Nova Digital, which helps all companies of the group to quickly develop and implement new internal and customer services.
Outdated collaboration tools slowed one of Ukraine’s fastest teams

Nova Post’s rapid development and internationalization were quickly outpacing its collaboration tools and meant they were no longer relevant to new challenges. The company was using a number of open source programs to manage internal communications, but these tools were inflexible, and employees often needed administrative assistance due to bugs and unintuitive interfaces.
Additionally, Nova Post was concerned about the software’s level of security. When war broke out in Ukraine in 2022, organizations across the country experienced a surge of hackers attempting to break into government and business websites to uncover information. The company needed to find tools that would be faster, more efficient, and more secure, so they decided to switch to .
Providing one workspace that everyone can use
Moving to Google Workspace has helped Nova Post access, update, and securely share information while keeping it safe from hackers. "Nova Digital provided a quick and easy transition for the company to Google Workspace in less than six months. Now all our internal information is stored in one place. It's safe, secure, and can be accessed easily and intuitively," said Chepiga.
All Nova Post employees were able to sign up for Google accounts to access and and communicate securely within the company. "We hardly needed any training because so many already had a personal Gmail account and knew how to use it. It's intuitive, so we were able to get started quickly," said Chepiga. With , the company has also been able to securely share large files between offices in different countries without worrying about valuable information leaking. International teams can also share, edit, and update documents across , , and .
The flexibility of the cloud-based platform also means that Nova Post can access information anywhere and anytime, even as it opens branches in new countries, including recent openings in Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Italy and as it looks toward offices in the UK, France, and Spain. As the team expands and employees travel abroad on business trips, they retain access to data from anywhere in the world.
This data includes a company address book, so anyone at Nova Post can quickly find contact information for a team member in any office at any time. "We’re a large company, so we have some people with the same name," said Chepiga. "Because all of our accounts are connected to Gmail and , we can find the right person, wherever they are, by an email address, phone number, position, or name."
Making remote, international collaboration more connected and human

With Google Workspace, Nova Post has achieved one of its most important goals: creating an easy-to-use, safe system of interconnected tools. "Our teams are no longer dependent on our help desk," said Chepiga. "Everyone gets access to all the tools in Google Workspace when they start working with us and can use them right away." The company no longer spends hours troubleshooting software issues and managing onboarding for multiple programs when new employees join the team.
This collaboration allows colleagues to easily connect and work closely together at any time, on any project. "Google Docs is such a convenient tool for international communication. With Google Meet, a team can jump into ad hoc meetings knowing that conversations are protected from potential hackers hunting for proprietary information. Employees can also share and access files through Google Drive, restricting access to important documents for a specific period of time or to specific users. They no longer need to rely on third-party file transfer services to share information across offices and countries.
Securely delivering packages across Europe and around the world

Nova Group's IT team can now rely on Google Workspace to monitor threats and protect company and customer information. This has allowed the team to focus on creating products for all areas of the logistics business, from air transportation to the business school it runs for entrepreneurs.
The programmers also have more time to work on new projects that help the company to develop abroad, such as the website or the global mobile application: Nova Post. "Our multilingual application allows customers in different countries to track parcels at any stage of the delivery route with almost real-time updates," said Chepiga.
