August is over!

Thank the lord that month is over! My test was on Monday, and it feels so much different now that I don’t something so huge looming in the distance. I studied for about three months, and while I didn’t do as well as my practice tests, I did well enough to get accepted in the master’s program I am looking at. Now I just need to round up my references, write a letter of intent and send over the application!

I did (and still do a little) have some hesitations about starting graduate school. First and foremost, am I actually going to use this degree?? That’s a pretty important question, but I think with such a huge portion of the population getting bachelor degrees (at least in city-type locations where I want to end up), a master’s degree would put me ahead of the competition. Also, it’s mandatory for administration level positions at a university. So why do I occasionally have second thoughts? Well, to be honest I would much rather be a stay at home wife and mom than have a career. But this is unlikely to happen, so the next best thing to do is get this degree and get settled into my career before I have a child. It’ll be a lot of work, but it’s free so it won’t be a huge financial loss in the off chance I don’t ever put it to good use.

Soooo yeah. Chance and I are planning to go to Florida next week, but there is a tropical storm about to wreak havoc in the gulf, so I’m not sure what is happening at this point. I just really, really want to see the beach. It’s such a bummer that I live almost ten hours away. Sometimes I daydream about living closer–two or three hours away even–and visiting every month. Maybe someday.

Day 20: Favourite anime ending theme

This played during the ending credits of the Cardcaptor Sakura movie. It was always my favourite song from the series.

The animation is really lame, but this is one of my favourite songs ever.

Day 19: Favourite school uniform

I always loved Rei’s school uniform in Sailor Moon. It’s grey and the skirt is much shorter than on the rest of the characters’ uniforms.

Day 18: Favourite Pokémon

In over 12 years of Pokémon love and with 498 new species added since the original 151, I can’t be expected to keep the same favourite Pokémon forever, right?

When I was in middle school, I collected all things Meowth. I had just about every Meowth card in every language that was released in or before 2000. I even had this giga Meowth plushie, but it got lost/taken away like most of my other belongings when I moved in high school ;_; (There is also a smaller Meowth plushie in this photo!)

At least I still have this cool jelly jar! XD (And the bulb on that Bulbasaur is totally a pencil sharpener…)

After Gold and Silver came out, Umbreon became my favourite. The Eevee evolutions are so cool, and I loved this new dark type. These days, it’s pretty unlikely to find a dark type Pokémon in my party. I prefer one of my other Pokes to know a dark attack like Bite in case I come across a pesky psychic type.

At some point in the last few years, I realized my true Pokémon love is Raichu. It’s cuter and more powerful than Pikachu, and it’s my favourite type!
