Biography

As an actor/musician/educator, Jake has worked in New York City, regional theatre, independent film, commercials, and new media. His primary discipline is movement for the actor, with a dual emphasis on building physical sustainability and dynamic physical characterization in the actor. With a collegiate background in dance, he has trained extensively in Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) and Bartenieff Fundamentals. As a teaching artist with The Milwaukee Rep, he has designed and led physical acting workshops based in LMA, as well as a six-week Voice for the Actor course which synthesizes the vocal techniques of Kristin Linklater with the physical awareness of LMA. He currently serves as a lead movement teacher for First Stage’s Young Company, the award-winning training program for advanced high school actors. He is a Meisner-trained actor with a MFA in Acting from Purdue University.

He has appeared as Abe Lincoln in the Steinhafels Presidents Day Sale ad campaign. As a singer/songwriter he performs under the monikers Lake Juke and Dacada Summer.
