Gear can make or break an adventure, and I'm lucky that I had such great gear for the Continental Divide Trail! I'm a huge advocate for using stuff you already have, but realistically, sometimes you need new gear for specialized activities. You can't safely camp without warm layers, you can't secondhand your way into shoes that aren't worn and misshapen for your feet, and you can't do a backpacking trip without a pack that fits.
