gCity - planetary city survival sim
a game I liked called dCity went down, so I made the sequel.
features include:
- tons of buildings, events, stats, tech, items, and character customization
- research, discovery, military, economy, forecasting, and more
- player leadership role through prompted events and governance systems
- excessive non-linear open-ended decision making towards progression
- ascension project newgame+ difficulty scaling and upgrades
- lots of QoL features and intuitive visual information
- invasions from a mysterious species that protects the planet's environment
- stats for pollution, crime, affinity, happiness, and more
- 'idle' play style with "actual game" levels of complexity
- army building and military tactics/upgrades
- RPG style character progression
- probably something else

game is a prototype, unfinished, buggy, unbalanced, etc.

important to note that the game currently uses fickle webgame browser cache save data. this means certain browser behaviors/tools can block/remove the save data arbitrarily, and there's not much to be done about that.

also note: due to the webgame format, different browsers may display things differently, plugins/extensions may affect it, and other annoying things. For major issues there is an unspoken "well it works on my computer" as the response. I cannot test it against every possible combination of browsers/plugins/etc. so if it looks especially janky or broken then it might be resolved from using a different browser. (example: the emojis look different on different systems, sometimes splitting into 2 icons instead of one)

trying to run downloaded versions locally may cause technical problems, since it's only tested as a webgame embed. You would need to do some work to modify it to run locally or have an operating system that was smart enough to understand on its own. File downloads on itch are also wacky and do not include the current version, and will overwrite previous versions if the new uploaded name is identical, creating a large gap in download versions available (new versions are attached to devlogs, if you care)
