Bosca Ceoil is a free, easy to use tool for creating music!
- Bosca is designed for beginners! It takes less than five minutes to learn, and comes with a quick built in tutorial to walk you through everything, step by step.
- Bosca supports lots of different scales and chords, so even if you've never composed music before, it's really easy to get something that sounds good straight away.
- No messing around getting instruments to work! Bosca comes with over a hundred presets, including MIDI and Chiptune instuments.

This thing didn't work. I don't know what version of Linux you targeted, but can you please let me know what version you targeted? Just so I can be capable of, you know, understanding what I might have done wrong? Because I just downloaded the Linux version and it didn't work. I need to know why. Just so you know.
This project is archived - if you really want to run the old version, the best way to run it on a modern linux distro is through wine, but you're better off just using the updated project Bosca Ceoil Blue: https://yurisizov.itch.io/boscaceoil-blue

Hey, uh, I don't delete people's posts as a rule, but could you please not make things up? These downloads have been here and unchanged for more than a decade - after your post I went and checked that nobody had uploaded anything new and that I hadn't been hacked or something.
How do I duplicate the pattern? I want to make another sound but without interfering with the original.

This software is terrible... as an experience musician, I can tell that the scales are not accurate. Further the software lags a lot and adding multiple instruments and layers creates a noise.

This is so fricking fun to mess with and easy to use its not even funny
v2 problems: Inability to scrub the timeline(shorter patterns helps *but); no undo button; limited labelling/Pattern-management* system; no auto-save, no quick-save, no titlebar->file->save, no automatic save overwrite; easy to edit/delete the wrong pattern(layered notes are a nightmare). Some easy patch-fixes: add the ability to lock patterns, let us label/colour/organize the patterns, allow larger expanded pattern manager.
I still don't understand how you are supposed to 'move' patterns once they are placed....I've been duplicating and deleting the old position. The advanced tips, given that it covers TIMELINE DELETION HOTKEYS, should definitely be merged with the main tutorial (otherwise its a good tutorial). 'Good but Be prepared to permanently delete your work' is the tldr of this program. I don't know what year the overall save functionality of this program is trying to reference, but I remember all the programs I used in the 90s being more advanced.
Hey there! You should give the updated version a try, as it introduces undo/redo and unsaved changes checks so you don’t lose your work permanently! Has shortcuts for saving too.

At first glance, I thought it gonna be a small and cute project you did, but man, it's more serious than I thought it could be, I never saw a DAW program with a built-in swing, and definitely not one that lets me decide how much swing!
I really enjoy messing with this, and I think I'll use it to make some tracks, great job!

The mac version is not working on m1 mac mini now.
So, I tryed to windows version on Porting Toolkit and it's working!

Amazing tool!
A beautiful, playful and easy musicmaking tool that taught me so much about music composition– brought music into my life in a real way. Made many many tracks and albums with this back in the day before Apple updates ruined it–still always think fondly of it when I'm trying to compose in Logic or whatever. I will always be grateful for Bosca!!

Good program I remember using it some years ago. I only wish that there was some midi input and that it worked with mac.
I want to export a cover of a song I made in Bosca to MIDI but it is not working. No file is created. Is any one else having this issue?

Guys. I couldn't save or export, but I have found a solution - you need to delete an * and whetewer is after it (like *.ceol) and just press save.

It means that it's 32-bits and that you can't run it.
Hey, Once a while I installed it and it was awesome, but when I tried the online version, it just didn't work. How can I fix that?
Really great! Have used for years. Brilliant DAW for beginners, with a focus on building repeated layers. Very impressed with the amount of instruments that you can use. Well done Terry.

Yo, I asked on Twitter about whether or not Bosca is going to be updated and he blocked me? Um...what the hell? Is there something I missed? I asked a very normal, respectful question. Is this a dead peoject now? What a shame if true, the software looks awesome, I would have paid or at least donated.

I doubt the program will be updated, unless they're able to port the synth to another language
Argh. Oh well, I commend the creator for what hes done. I probably wouldnt want to keep updating it either. Maybe a fan or group of fans can help out.
I mean, last update was 2016. I would also hazard a guess that you aren't the first person to ask them about the status of this project, probably the hundredth, maybe more.
It gets very tiring having to respond to the same question over and over. While I think a block seems a bit overkill, maybe to Terry they're just so tired of it they don't care.
Of course, I'm speaking from my own point of view.
Fair enough, but if the project is now done, why not just put that announcement up on the website and Twitter and call it a day. Seems simply enough. Just thank all the fans and move on.

i used it for over a year even if it's dead since its very simple and easy to use.
The community is VERY toxic..
