I agree with you with some of them, but not all.

Sydero: Not convenience at all. Honestly, one can argue that Roe ends up being her soulmate because they’re the only one she opens up to. I guess you can say “oh but if someone else” but no, like she would’ve killed anyone else. Roe being what they are is one of the reasons Roe ends up able to squirm their way deeper into Syd’s life. (Don’t want to say too much, it’s a new spoiler). Syd doesn’t have a type though, I don’t wanna say Roe is her ideal but they are.

Zillah: Another non-convenience, as the whole irony of Zillah being terrified of death and falling in love with it/them is there. Zillah is like Syd, there’s no ideal because he hasn’t needed to worry/think of an ideal. He’s a shade, there is no ideal person for him.

Amari: Kinda in the middle. She does have a type and it’s someone who is very much the “knight in shining armor” come forth to save her. I love my girl but she has a very immature look on romance. But at the same time, she doesn’t need that. You can go either way with her in story of course (friend/rival path). Roe ends up being what she’s always dreamed of or what she needs.

Chanara: In the middle too. Like Zillah, she wasn’t looking for someone nor did she care about her “ideal” type anymore. She was dead and the dead don’t have time for romance. So, yea it is convenient that Roe is what they are but also bugging Chanara with romance as much as they do is what brings that side of her back to life.

Hilarious that these two, who can get together, are the definitely convenience ones.

Chris: Cookie-cutter romance. Like basic. Wants someone with enough hobbies in common, someone whose pretty upbeat and optimistic and just ready to tackle and explore life. He wants a family one day and to grow gray and old. Roe I can say is convenient here but also Chris has a crush on F!Roe since freshman year. Yes, you can slot someone else in that he ends up being friends with though as well.

Rahim: Wants to get as far away from the supernatural with his partner as possible so yea, 100% convenient here. He wants to fall in love with a human. He wants to be human himself to feel all the things they feel and actually grow old and die. He likes those that challenge him and don’t really care about the bigger picture, more so the smaller one that’s right in front of them. He wants that person who comes home and is just happy to see him with mundane issues.
