Monday, February 26, 2001 Database Development Tool - Create HTML forms from MS Access tables
"FormGen is an application development tool and code generator with main emphasis on database development. It produces nothing that you could not produce with notepad and ALOT of patience. It will create HTML files with JavaScript embedded in them. The JavaScript talks to the ADOCE database components (which exists in the operating system) by means of ActiveX objects. The idea behind DBFormGen (and DBConsole as well) is to utilize the existing database engines and JavaScript language engines and make a nice front end to them. With DBConsole and FormGen installed on your PocketPC, you can create mobile database applications without need for a compiler like Embedded VisualBasic or a database program like MicrosoftAccess." Friday, February 23, 2001 A Plan to Send Prescriptions Electronically from the New York Times
Three companies that operate most of the nation's managed care drug plans agreed yesterday to establish a joint system to make it easier for doctors to send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically or over the Internet. The three companies — AdvancePCS, Express Scripts and the Merck-Medco unit of Merck & Company — said the system would improve patient safety by reducing mistakes and misunderstandings. They said it would also save time and money for doctors, pharmacies and health plans. Industry experts said the standards would also be a boon to technology companies, including several start-ups, that are developing hand- held devices for ordering drugs. 'The coming together of these managed care companies will rapidly increase the deployment of hand-held devices in doctors' offices,' said Dr. Russell J. Ricci, general manager of I.B.M. Global Healthcare.
