Comic-con trailer for Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete' shows never before seen footage with emphasis on R rated action.
The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) a corrupt Senator.
Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Cheech Marin) his "holy" brother, and April (Lindsay Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.
Academy Award winner Robert De Niro and Oscar nominee Edward Norton deliver powerful performances as a seasoned corrections official and a scheming inmate whose lives become dangerously intertwined in Stone, a thought-provoking drama directed by John Curran and written by Angus McLachlan.
As parole officer Jack Mabry (De Niro) counts the days toward a quiet retirement, he is asked to review the case of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton), in prison for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. Now eligible for early release, Stone needs to convince Jack he has reformed, but his attempts to influence the older man's decision have profound and unexpected effects on them both. Stone skillfully weaves together the parallel journeys of two men grappling with dark impulses, as the line between lawman and lawbreaker becomes precariously thin.
The film's superb ensemble features Milla Jovovich as Lucetta, Stone's sexy, casually amoral wife, and Golden Globe winner Frances Conroy as Madylyn, Jack's devout, long-suffering spouse. Set against the quiet desperation of an economically ravaged community and the stifling brutality of a maximum security prison, this tale of passion, betrayal and corruption examines the fractured lives of two volatile men breaking from their troubled pasts to face uncertain futures
Machete (Danny Trejo) is a renegade former "Mexican Federale". He roams the cities, towns, and streets of Texas looking for work after a shakedown from a drug lord called Torrez (Steven Segal).Machete has a run-in with Michael Benz (Jeff Fahey), a local businessman and spin doctor, who tells Machete that McLaughlin (Robert De Niro), a corrupt senator, is sending hundreds of illegal immigrants out of the country and that he must be killed. Benz offers Machete $150,000 to kill McLaughlin who quickly accepts the murder contract out of greed for the money.
Attempting to assassinate the senator at a political rally, Machete is double-crossed and is shot in the shoulder by Benz's henchmen whom are soon revealed to be in league with Senator McLaughlin who orchestrated the entire attempted assassination with Benz as part of a false flag operation to gain widespread public support for McLaughlin's harsh anti-immigration laws by setting up Machete as the patsy to make it appear that an outlaw illegal Mexican immigrant tried to assassinate the senator.
Now on the run from the law and being tracked not only by a ruthless henchwoman hired by Torrez, but Machete is also tracked down by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a persistent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.
Machete goes after Benz and his men, as well as Senator McLaughlin, with the help of his only three allies; his "holy" Federal-turned-priest brother Padre (Cheech Marion) with a thing for pump-action shotguns; a saucy meat cleaver-wielding taco slinger named Luz (Michelle Rodriguez); and Benz socialite daughter April (Lindsey Lohan), whom Machete kidnaps and who soon develops a fascination for the blade-wielding fugitive since April has a penchant for guns. Machete rallies a group of illegal migrants together, and they all begin to hunt the people who double crossed him.

UPDATE: Lars von Trier's producer Peter Aalbaek Jensen has dismissed the rumour saying:
"I have seen it [the story] in the Danish film magazine and what is written there is not true."

Bloody-disgusting have revealed some of the cast details on the Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis 'Machete' film, if true I can safely assume the film will not be a straight to DVD affair:
DANNY TREJO is returning (obviously) as "Machete", the madman bent on revenge.
MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ ("Lost", Fast & Furious, Avatar) is said to be playing "Luz".
JONAH HILL, the comedian who has starred in such films as Superbad and the forthcoming Adam Sandler comedy Funny People, will play "Julio".
Lastly, a legend of our time, ROBERT DE NIRO, will take on the role of "Senator McLaughlin".
Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro have been confirmed they will return for the third 'Meet The...' film, entitled Meet The Little Fockers.
John Hamburg, who wrote the first two films, is currently working on the script, rewriting an earlier draft by Larry Stuckey.
The plot will revolve around the children of Gaylord "Greg" Focker and his wife Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo), and the couple's continuing attempts to please disapproving father-in-law Jack. Owen Wilson, who had cameos in the first two films as Pam's ex-lover Kevin Rawley, is expected to have a larger role in the new film.
Director Jay Roach will not return to helm the third film because he is attatched to 'Dinner For Schmucks'. Peyton Reed (Yes Man), David Wain (Role Models) and Paul Weitz (About A Boy) are all being considered to take the reigns.
Robert De Niro has confirmed that he is planning to work once again with Martin Scorsese. As previously reported it was already expected De Niro wold be on board but no confirmation had been made.
Speaking at a press conference in London for 'What Just Happened', De Niro talked about working with his friend, director Scorsese on 'I Heard you Paint Houses'.
When asked by RTÉ.ie to confirm the rumours, he said: "Yes, that's something that Marty and I, we want to do very much.
"Steve Zaillian is at this point writing the script and we have an even more ambitious plan of doing another movie connected to it, in some way, with Eric Roth hopefully writing that script. So yeah, that's very much planned to be done."
Based on the life of former hit man, Frank 'The Irish Man' Sheeran, 'I Heard you Paint Houses' is scheduled for release in 2011.
Mark Wahlberg has revealed to Digital Spy that Robert De Niro and Brad Pitt may star in the planned upcoming sequel to The Departed.
"They were talking about bringing in a couple of new guys like De Niro, maybe Brad Pitt or someone like that playing the bad guy, a corrupt politician or something," he said. "Then, like the Hong Kong [Infernal Affairs] trilogy that the movie is based on, come back and do a prequel and bring everyone else back who was in the first."
Wahlberg insisted that he would only return for a sequel "if we can make it better than the first and people are willing to see it".
This is one long overdue reunion! Robert De Niro & Martin Scorsese are to join forces again to make 'I Heard You Paint Houses', the book about the mob assassin who many believe was involved in the death of Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa.
Variety reports that Scorsese is attached to direct with De Niro playing Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders. The flick will be produced by Scorsese and Tribeca partners De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. Project landed at Paramount through the overall deal that the studio has with Scorsese’s Sikelia Prods.
The description of the book is, "I Heard you Paint Houses" are the first words Jimmy Hoffa ever spoke to Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran. To paint a house is to kill a man. The paint is the blood that splatters on the walls and floors. In the course of nearly five years of recorded interviews Frank Sheeran confessed to Charles Brandt that he handled more than twenty-five hits for the mob, and for his friend Hoffa. Sheeran learned to kill in the U.S. Army, where he saw an astonishing 411 days of active combat duty in Italy during World War II.
After returning home he became a hustler and hit man, working for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino. Eventually he would rise to a position of such prominence that in a RICO suit then-U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani would name him as one of only two non-Italians on a list of 26 top mob figures. When Bufalino ordered Sheeran to kill Hoffa, he did the deed, knowing that if he had refused he would have been killed himself. Sheeran's important and fascinating story includes new information on other famous murders, and provides rare insight to a chapter in American history.
