Kathleen Fleming, who developed and produced several LEGO and LEGO Star Wars projects as Director of Entertainment Development at the company, died in an accident over the weekend. She had most recently been working on Warner Bros’ February 7 release The Lego Movie: The Piece Of Resistance as a liaison managing studio relationships on entertainment projects. Fleming joined the company after working with LEGO as Account Manager at ad agency Ammerati Puris Lintas. She officially came aboard LEGO in 2009 as Senior Manager of Entertainment Development for LEGO Group. Her credits include LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace and LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out which she exec produced, as well as the NINJAGO: Master of Spinjitzu TV series and the soon-to-be-aired LEGO Legends of CHIMA series and LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles miniseries. “We are devastated by the passing of Kathleen, as she was an amazing collaborator, advocate and friend” Lego Movie producer Dan Lin said Wednesday on behalf of the filmmakers. “We often joked that we started out as business associates but we later became family. We not only worked together, but we ate together, traveled together and even went to Devo concerts together. Her positive attitude and love for life will be sorely missed but we vow to make this movie the best it can be to honor her life and contribution.”

Stunned and saddened by the news. Kathleen was a force to be reckoned with and it was a pleasure to work with her. The team in Sydney is going to miss her. Heartfelt condolences to her friends and family and colleagues.
This is ridiculously sad. I worked with Kathleen on THE LEGO MOVIE. She was an intelligent, frank, honest and talented partner. In a job where she could just be a bureaucrat, she chose to be an advocate. My heart goes out to her family, her many co-workers and her friends.
The news is beyond heartbreaking. Having worked with Kathleen on a number of LEGO films, I got to know how much she truly cared about entertaining families all over the world. She didn’t just do her job she excelled at it. She always put the audience first and strove to deliver a level of programming virtually unmatched in children’s programming. As Michael, Dan, Jesse, Gregg and countless others have shared over the last few days, she was a ball of incredible energy who never stopped pushing everyone around her to be the very best they could be. It is with absolute sadness that we all had to say good-bye too soon.
Kathleen was an extraordinary professional and an even better person. There are no words that can come close to adequately describing our loss.
I had the great fortune to count Kathleen as a close friend ever since we worked together at Lowe in NY, then on a couple of LEGO specials out here in LA. She was an incredibly caring, funny, sharp woman. The sheer volume of outpouring sympathies and shared stories from her many friends since her passing is a testament to that. Her death is shocking, senseless, terrible. She will be greatly missed.
