We take our name from the Semi-Tropic Spiritualists Association, an early-1900s utopianist collective that maintained a rustic base of operations in the wooded hills at the northern edge of Echo Park. Their version of utopia and spiritualism was known to include dancing, drinking, séances, mysticism, and darker explorations of the occult. Last active almost 100 years ago, the metaphysical presence of the Semi-Tropic Spiritualists can be felt in Echo Park to this day.

Stopped in for a few hours before a concert at the Echo Plex and had an amazing time! The vibes were immaculate and the food was spectacular. No misses, but please do yourself a favor and order the eggplant if it's on the menu! Staff were very friendly and attentive. As the night progressed, they turned the lighting down to move things from feeling day-time cozy work to evening intimacy. An easy go-to if you're in the Echo Park area!

What a pleasure to get quality meals at cheap pricing in an era of soaring restaurant prices. Everything we ate was excellent, and even though the prices were fair, the portions were still sufficient. Our server was quick, friendly and efficient and the ambiance is laid back and comfortable. We'll be back for a bigger dinner and more drinks for sure. You would do well to pop in for a visit your own darned self!

I love it here, it's a great local spot. I love going with a small group and chilling in the booths, or stopping by for a show or a listening party. It's such a cool spot and always attracts a cool crowd as well. Plus, did I mention the drinks are AMAZING?!

We went here before riding the Swan boats at Echo Park Lake. The food was delicious. My drink was yummy and the service was really friendly and warm. I'll definitely be back.

I love love love the is place. I recently moved to echo park and this is my favorite bar so far. It's cozy and super aesthetic. The food and drinks are so good, and the staff is so friendly. They also have an outdoor area with fire pits which might be my favorite part. I've had many fun nights with friends out there.

Best happy hour in town. Just stopped for a beer on the way back home. Also, custom speakers with 60s tube amps for audiophiles, playing 50s/60s rock, soul, easy listening music when I was there around 6pm. Very chill!

I'm moving out of the area so I have to give a shout out to semi-tropic! I've had too many good times here this past year living on the silver lake/echo park border. Their cocktail game is fire and the food is great too. Vegans can exist peacefully here. The staff is AMAZING - they consistently elevate the experience, are good for a laugh, yet are also good at their jobs if that makes sense. On top of that the ambiance is 10/10 and I swear they have one of THE BEST sound systems in LA. Please Have a mezcal Paloma and a hummus plate in my honor!

Cormac was the best! I've heard about this spot for a while and their great happy hour and was so happy that I stopped in. I had a rum and coke and the breakfast Sammie. Everything was fantastic and I can't wait to come back. Happy hour is 2-6 pm everyday and includes food and drinks.

What can I say? This is my favorite neighborhood bar. The lavender gimlet is unbeatable. They always have great servers. I never order food so I can't speak to that, but the bar is great and the drinks superb.
