Visited the old blog again today.  Hope all of you out in the gunblog aether are doing well.  Hard to believe it's been this many years.

Not much to report on this end.  Got a second term on our county fair board,  and I'm running for township trustee this fall.  Glutton for punishment I guess.

Far as gun stuff goes,  I hardly shoot anymore.  Enough to stay competent with my CCW and whack the occasional coyote, nothing more.  Sad,  really.  Life and ammo cost about chased me out of it,  but I'm hoping to have more time in 2024.  On the positive side,  we're moving back to the family farm,  and I can shoot 1000 yards if I please,  so there's that.  I'd like to shoot a Garand match at Perry one of these years.

On a positive note,  the wife and I have taken up beekeeping,  which we both really enjoy.  Fascinating bugs, bees.  Any of you reading the from the old days need only contact me and I'll mail you a jar.  And mead will be a thing this fall.  Pulled 50 lbs last week,  and we've got blackberries by the gallon, so we're going to give it a go.

Anyhow,  hope you all are well.

Still around

 I'm still here.

Never really got the blog itch,  but wanted to maintain a presence.  I've recently been forced to get a facebook account,  after 10 years of avoiding that pool of cancerous sludge.  Guess it works for coordinating people for my duties as a fair director.  All I've managed is a fight with a bunch of stupid fucking white trash (which I won).  Sit on it and spin,  Sue.

Anyways,  to whoever sees this from the old days,  I hope all is well.  Maybe we'll get another Northcoast Blog Shoot together one of these years.

Best,

H

Nightwish

I have discovered a whole new genre that I really like.  Behold, Nightwish!

This isn't a return to anything resembling blogging, and I doubt anyone will even see it, but Floor Jansen is too good not to share.

In memory.

Just a few lines for an old friend.  Honestly,  not even an "old" friend,  because he was way too young and we never hung out much other than professionally, but I was fond of the guy.

Graham,  you were a hell of an entertaining guy,  and fine company to stand a watch with.  I don't know what demons tormented you,  but I hope you've found your peace.

Semper Fi, brother.

July wheat

It's 96 and humid out ( feels like 104,  according to the weather.com heat index).

Cleaning out my bookmarks,  found the ol neglected blog.  Alan called it years ago,  blogs are dead and it's sad. I miss the old days of blog Camaraderie, but it is what it is.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Facebook

Finally shitcanned Facebook for good.  Just not worth the aggravation.  Much the same way I refused to participate in my platoons' "GroupMe"  text feature.  I don't own a smartphone,  and the damn thing would chirp at me at all hours of the day and night,  any time someone in the group posted.  Last straw was when one of my drunken comrades felt the need to do a post-date AAR.   At 0400.  To hell with that noise.

I'm increasingly aware of being the odd man out as social media progresses,  and I honestly don't give a shit.
