Ornaments -Take 2!

Hello friends!

There is one thing that you may not know about me.....

I grew up with watching baseball in Taiwan. These days, I am watching our Blue Jay and they are finally getting into World Series! Woohoo!

I grew up with watching baseball games in Taiwan. Staying up into the wee hours or/and waking up early in the morning was the norm. We'd gather in front of our TV and watched Taiwanese Little Leagues winning and losing games. That part of history is forever etched into my childhood memories. These days, Dr. John and I have been busy watching our Blue Jays (see here) and they are finally getting into World Series! Woohoo! The last time that Blkue Jays was in World Series was in 1993! It's about time... 😀

OK... enough of baseball. Back to my 2nd take with this subscription.

This time, I took out a light coral/pink cardstock as the card base.

To create interest, I added a few darker shades of light brown (such as Antique Linen) . Antique Linen is my all time favourite Distress Ink.

I am not sure if you are familiar with Distress Resist Spray. This product has been out for a long time now. However, it has not been mentioned or used as much as of late. There are all kinds of NEW products coming to the craft world all the time. Let's not forget the good oldies such as Distress Resist Spray.

Once I splatted a few droplets of Distress Resist Spray and let it dry. Then I applied the darker shades of ink and got this lovely effect for the background.

What do you think? I can't decide which one I like more.... maybe today's card is prettier!?

The images from this set is absolutely gorgeous. I love the clean lines and easy yet sophisticated details.

If you like warm tones, I highly suggest the deep earth tone for the background/card base.

I also like some details in the background. Therefore, the outline stamps are perfect for that.

All the colors are stamped and inked with Distress Oxide. They are my all time favorite as they blend and stamp beautifully.

Last but not least, don't be afraid to ink up the edges of the cardstock. This is a tried and true trick/skill for me over the last decade. I almost never regret inking up the edges. Time truly fly.... I have been at this craft/card-making since 2009. I can't believe that much time has passed. All of sudden, I am starting feel nostalgia... part of aging, I guess. This design is typically used when you have small and similar sizes of the stamped dies.

I love the ease of grouping them into a rectangle (or circle) frame.

In my last post, I had used paper strips to highlight the color scheme. This time, I decided to add paper-weaving to the design.

The paper-weaving not only gives the designs some pops of colors, it also helps to ground the assorted images. If you have small stamped die cut images, try paper-weaving and add it to the mix.

I also stamped the sentiment die with an extra gold one. This elevates the dimension and design.

Happy Fall and ... Leaves!

Hello friends!

How are you? It took me a while to get back to blog again. There are so. many. changes. in our crafting world and ..... and yes, this thing called "life" itself. Sometimes it can be so overwhelming.

Much like the ups and downs of the current world/national events, it is getting immensely complicated to follow and not respond to them. However, I must digress... and get back to the basics-->crafting.

How cute are these die cut images?

I used very minimum paper with my own spin. To create the "dramatic" effect from Halloween, what better than using dark color stock?

TOP TIP: to offset the dark color card stock. It is a GREAT ideato use vellum as part of the design element.

I silver-embossed the sentiment on a piece of vellum and add that to the bottom like a crystal ball. These small frames (dies) are versatile as they can be used all year round. They will go well with the floral images or serves as a cool background for any design.
