Sophie Wereley is a writer of speculative fiction. Though she was raised in Maryland, her life has snaked through five other states and the District of Columbia. She was a writer-in-residence at Hedgebrook and a fellow at the Martha’s Vineyard Institute for Creative Writing. Her work is inspired by the edges of things, by the boundaries where old and new intermingle, and by spaces between and beyond.
In addition to being a writer, Sophie is a medical speech-language pathologist working primarily in critical access and safety net hospitals. Her expertise includes acquired neurological disorders of cognition, language, and swallowing, and whole-person approaches to their treatment.
