Zoo Welcomes Engangered Grevy’s Zebra Foal

The Los Angeles Zoo is celebrating the birth of a male Grevy’s zebra. The zebra foal was born this spring and is the first Grevy’s zebra birth at the Los Angeles Zoo since 2019.

Gorilla Infant is 5th Great Ape in Less than 4 Months!

With the addition of a new gorilla infant – a sibling for Angela – five great apes have made their public debut at the LA Zoo! One gorilla, one orangutan, and THREE chimpanzees!

Welcome! The first Bornean Orangutan Born at the LA Zoo in 15 Years!

Zoo staff, volunteers, and guests are beaming with joy over the birth of a new baby boy Bornean orangutan, which can be seen now at the Red Ape Rain Forest.

The Harrowing Journey of a California Condor and the Veterinary Team Who Helped Save Her Life

Female California condor #939 was hatched at the Los Angeles Zoo in 2018 at the California Condor Recovery Facility and was successfully released to the wild. Years later she returned to the Zoo in desperate need of treatment for a severe case of lead poisoning from ingesting lead ammunition.
