Merry Christmas!

Wishing all of my blog readers a very happy holiday! As many of you know, we are in the process of moving, but we have taken a day and a half off to eat and relax. Leaving you with some pictures of our pre Christmas traditions of baking gingerbread as well as some snaps from Christmas Eve... See you soon...

Still renovating

Paul has finished sheetrocking the living room and I am trying to get all surfaces painted so he can get the floor laid. My poor kids, eating dinner on a pile of sheetrock, playing amongst sawdust and constantly getting paint on their clothes...it will all be worth it though - one day. The big wall has been painted a calming blue and I am so looking forward to getting my things in there. Ok, so the rest of the house still is a pit and will be tackled next week. here's a before:

Noah's room minus a wall.

Future guest room

Front door

In the midst of the dust, I have managed to finish a few commissioned pieces. Can you believe that? I think this image is fantastic, the customer said that it came amongst some vintage circus photos.

I will be back a bit later, hopefully with pictures of finished rooms!

What I've Been Been Doing

Want to see my kitchen?

Yep, the renovation of the house is under way. Actually, the sink is gone as well as the floor now. Tomorrow, we are on our way to order a new one which, if all goes well, will be in place before Christmas.

We also had a gigantic stone fireplace that had to go. Here is a before and after:

Yes, that husband of mine is something else. Can you believe that he actually enjoys this kind of stuff? In the mean time, I have been painting any visable surface and am already tired after 5 days.

more later, got to paint...

Inspiration!

Corey sent me a whole envelope full of fantastic schtuff (including her book, might I add) last week. I decided to spread it all over the floor and create pieces mainly from the bits she sent. What a fantastic way to work! Not only do you have new ephemera to work with, you also start playing around with other techniques, something which you may not have done with "the same old stuff you have laying around that you're used to looking at." Start trading with friends, you will be amazed at the inspiration that comes from it! Anyway, because I am in the process of a move, nothing is saved, and these pieces are listed along with others on ebay.

Stop, and enjoy the simple things

Isn't this the cutest picture you've ever seen? We have a little cut out in the wall between the kitchen and living room where Noah likes to play. He actually stood still while I ran to fetch my camera. Makes me smile just looking at it. Now that the days have become very dark and cold, we need these simple moments to put a smile on our faces.

I can hear the heavy snow pelt again my window as I write this. We have been having some major storms here in Stavanger and Fall is here with a vengence. We didn't get much snow last year so I am hoping that it falls in buckets this year.

Had a fantastic weekend in Scotland but now it is back to business. Am listing two new pieces on ebay shortly...

"Fine Autumn"

8" x 15 1/2" - 3/4" deep

"Destination"

5" x 7" - 3/4" deep

Friends = Good

I do a lot of internet surfing and am constantly discovering new and exciting things. So, you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this fantastic little porcelin workshop in Paris, le petit atelier de Paris, just in time to share with a friend that was off to the city of lights for the weekend. And it was all good! Can you believe that I received a little souvenir from the shop she said was just about the nicest small boutique she has ever been in?

You want to see what was inside?

An espresso cup for my collection, of course!

Now I am off for a weekend away to visit an old friend in Aberdeen, Scotland. Yay me!

Happy Weekend All!

Lots of art and Pasticcio Review

I got mine! My jaw actually dropped when I opened it and saw the artwork. The fantastic duo of Angela and Sarah have done it again! Absolutely gorgeous! Crystal clear imagery, witty journalism, and an easy to follow layout make it a zine that you will actually read. I mean, how many zines do you really read cover to cover? They also featured one of my fav artists, the fab Tiffini X. Did I mention it also had recipes? No kidding! If you are interested in mixed media art, journaling or are a collector of zines, this one is a must for any collection. Here's the link so you can have your own, shiny, 8.5" zine.

This piece is in Pasticcio and can now be yours on ebay.

These are also available on ebay and vary in size from 4" to over a foot long. Early Christmas shopping! Oh, and if you purchase one of these pieces and tell me that you saw it here first, I will pick up the shipping. Pretty good deal, no?

I can breathe!

"Pretty Things in a Row"
8" x 19 1/2" - 1 1/2" deep
I have been somewhat busy this past week but for good reason. Our house is sold! Now I can take a deep breath and focus on fixing the new house. Can't tell you the weight that has been lifted!
Finally got a new camera but haven't quite figured out how to use it. When I do, I will post some pictures of the fabulous autumn we have been having!

Cleaning up...

I work on several pieces at once and sometimes they sort of take over each other. That has happened this time so these pieces have been listed together. Here's the link if you want a closer look.

We have started moving things in the new house. I have many pieces started and many pieces in my head that I plan on getting to work on. Therefore, I am listing some pieces that you have seen before here and on my website. This piece, for example, will is now listed on ebay among others:

And would you take a look at this? I am so happy that I blog! My Norwegian cyper pal Kathrin sent me a fantastic surprise a couple weeks back. Still haven't found my camera but did manage to dust off the old one and take a picture! These handknitted washcloths are fab, so soft, and a new washing up brush? Who doesn't need that! I am saving it for the new house!

Ramblings...

Finally, one major task out of the way. Yesterday, the photographer came to take pictures of the interior of the house. We spent the entire week moving as much junk out of our house and into the basement of the new one in preparation for the open house. Of course, now that all the stuff is gone, our house echoes and feels a bit empty. Now I have a week to get it all clean for the open house next Monday.

I have been tagged by the dear Sarah. Thought this one should be easy as my middle name is only three letters! Here are the rules...

Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had. When you are tagged you need to write your own blogpost containing your own middle name game facts. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog!

A - Anxious! Oh, for so many things! Getting Noah into daycare a couple of times a week to start having time for ME! For a bigger house, so that we all have some room to move and grow.

N - That is an easy one, NICE! Raising three boys isn't always an easy task and I am trying to teach them the value of being NICE over everything else! I consistently tell them that they will get far in life by being NICE. I think that teaching children the importance of being NICE seems to be a bit underrated these days.

N - is for Negotiate. Yep, there is definitely a lot of that going on here in regards to weekly allowances. I am negotiating new furniture and appliances for the new house. Half way there! I figure as the kitchen is ripped out and starts taking shape again, he will see the IMPORTANCE of a built in espresso maker!

Going a bit against the rules here, and tagging some folks that initials are not in my middle name!

Join the Revolution!

After waiting patiently for a couple of weeks, it has finally arrived! Mixed Media artist Linda Woods and her sister, Karen Dinino have done it again with another fabulous book. Everything you never knew that you needed to know is in this book. Their witty writing style combined with new innovative techniques makes this book a necessity for any mixed media arts and/or journaler. Their first book, Visual Chronicles, inspired me to dust off one of many blank journals and set to work. I have contributed a small piece along with many other fantastic artists. I am flattered to be part of their Art Army! Buy this book! You will be filled with inspiration!

Admist my daily chaotic life which has currently contained two with head lice, a 10 year old with attitude and a husband sick after a week in India, I have managed to finish a few small pieces. These and others will soon be listed on ebay. Have a look if yer interested.

new house

Yep, we finally found a new/old house in our current area. We have been looking for something bigger for a very long time so we jumped on the chance to snap up this beauty. Ok, "beauty" is not quite the right word to use as you can see from the bathroom! Too bad I am not into retro. Anyway, things will be busy the rest of year as we prepare our house to sell and redo the new one. Thought I would share with you one of the two baths (the other one is just as lovely). I will post shots of the remodeling as it is finished in a few months. Uff da, I am tired just thinking about it!

I've been working!

I have been trying to get these listed on ebay the past couple of days but have only succeeded listing one. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Anyway, here is a peak of some current pieces for sale. I am working on some larger pieces too, but unfortunately my camera is still MIA so not sure when I will be able to share with you those. Happy weekend.

Hmmmmmmm

This photo pretty much sums up how I have been feeling lately...
I was really hoping to share with you some pictures of my new floor and ceiling after our repairs. I was also hoping to show you a fantastic surprise I received from a fellow blogger here in Norway. Unfortunately, my camera is no where to be found. I have searched everywhere possible (except where is actually is, I guess).

Because I can't show you any of my latest, large pieces of work, I thought I would share with you one little creation I am certainly proud of, my Noah, and one of his favorite summer things, blueberries!
And finally, if anyone in Stavanger is reading this and have seen this play, can you please help me understand the ending? A fantastic piece of work but after three hours, I want to understand the ending! Have a great week!

Paper Bag Studios

Good news! Your favorite rubber stamp company, Paper Bag Studios, has just revamped their site and added some new fantabulous images to their inventory. I have been honored to do some samples using some of their newest designs. Check out their website for more inspiration from a slew of fantastic mixed media artists. Oh, and don't forget to order a few for your collection...
