This series of releases is new to my Patreon – these are adventure locations based on maps I’ve drawn for official products over the years. The low-resolution sample version of the map is available for everyone, but the high-resolution versions are only available to patrons and people who purchase the release through the Patreon storefront. As such, these maps are not going to be included in the Patreon-exclusive end-of-month PDF, but will instead be released as their own PDF alongside the end-of-month one.

These maps are released under the new Restricted Release License as found on the copyright page of the blog.

The Map in this post is covered under my Restricted Release License and is intended for personal gaming use. Distribution outside of your own sessions is a violation of this agreement.

The high resolution versions of this map are available exclusively through Patreon to patrons at the Level 1 Adventurer tier and above and to all Legacy Patrons.

This map was drawn for Appendix B of the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide and is copyright Wizards of the Coast.

Woldbridge Low-Resolution
Woldbridge Low-Resolution

Woldbridge thrives in that sweet spot between “quiet enough to feel safe” and “busy enough that something is always happening just out of sight.”

Nestled along a winding stream, Woldbridge sprung up around the crossing point of two different trade roads that see less traffic in modern times than when the village was built. Woldbridge grew organically with no plan or grand charter. Built up by generations of people building where the land allowed to shape their community.

Woldbridge began as a waystation for drovers and traders moving between distant towns. The waystation was built next to the stone bridge that crosses the slow moving brook through the centre of town. The brook offers fresh water, the crossroads offered traffic, and to those who made the crossing, the gently rolling farmland offered opportunity.

The heart of the settlement is the Old Bridge, a squat stone structure that predates the village by a century or more. The bridge marks the center of town: children play along its banks, elders sit on its low walls to gossip and watch the traffic, and on occasion merchants have been known to set up temporary stalls on one side or the other to hawk their wares to the villagers and farmers of the area.

The north side of town is known as the Millward, a district defined by the watermill’s steady churn. The Miller family have operated the watermill for generations and are viewed as the foundational family of the town.

South of the crossroads is the Green, home to a large manor house and the town shrine. The shrine is an odd octagonal building with a courtyard. It is not dedicated to a single deity, but instead houses a collection of charms, icons, and offerings. The caretaker (an elderly woman named Marwen) claims the shrine listens, though she never says to what.

Many of the locations in Woldbridge have detailed maps in Appendix B of the 2024 DMG. These include the farmstead (directly to the west of the mill), the mansion (the large building in the northeast), and the walled inn (just to the northeast of the bridge), and the “spooky house” (southwest of the bridge). My goal is to draw detailed maps for the other buildings and sites of note in Woldbridge over the next year.

The Silent Pilgrim
Marwen has noted that someone visits the shrine when it is empty, leaving offerings of river stones carved in intricate spirals. This morning one of the stones cracked open, revealing a tiny living crystal insect, prompting a general panic.

The Bridge Toll
Gestor, a travelling merchant, has produced an ancient deed that names his family as custodians of the bridge and demands tolls not just from travellers but also from the locals. Tempers flared, blows were exchanged, and now he has hired guards to extract the toll.

Shrine of Borrowed Blessings
Offerings left at the shrine are being returned… altered. Some bring fortune, others misfortune.

The Tanners’ Secret
Strange hides arrive at the tanner’s workshop, tougher than any beast known. The source lies deep in the eastern woods.

Missing Millstones
The mill has stopped; its enchanted millstones have vanished. The miller swears they walked away on their own.

The Patreon-exclusive 1200 dpi versions of the map were drawn at a scale of 300 pixels per square and are 12,900 x 17,400 pixels (43 x 58 squares) where each square is roughly 25 feet across.
