…merry Xmas to awal muharram 1430H…

on christmas day, I went to another great sohabat 9600’s wedding…it was tatong’s reception at Dewan Beringin, Taman Seri Gombak…we haven’t met nearly 6 years despite I’m living nearby…

actually, there’s just soooo many fond memories that binds us together…starting from the very first year in SSP as her dorm sister became my pet sister…then, tatong and I used to go outing together back in SSP whereby her mum will signed three of us out…three including dayang…our favourite place during that time was Sogo…but, we bought our snacks and toiletries at Pasaraya Ong Tai Kim…hehehe…

tatong as I recall is a ‘manja’ child although she’s the eldest in the family…and guess what, she addressed herself as ‘ Anje’ towards her family…

anyway, more pictures of tatong’s wedding can be viewed at thirah's blog…I didn’t bring Rui (my Samsung Digimax L70) that day…I only managed to capture this blur picture with my Nokia phone…

...syahril & tatong making the red carpet entry...

ohh yaa, there was no me at thiong’s last picture as well…I was busy taking laksa and cendol outside the hall…hurmm…need to wait for cipah to resume the picture of us in her pink Sony digicam…to cipah: take note ok!

then, on 26th December 2008, ryan went for 6000km service…hahaha…ya laa erin, it was a misunderstanding…I’m supposed to bring him over for a 5000km service…it should not be 1000 + 5000…hahaha…I’ll ensure that I’ll catch up with the next service schedule at 10000km…ohh…my poor ryan…I got myself and ryan a ‘surprise’ – will be on next post laa…am going to finish the job this coming friday…

after servicing ryan, I went back to klang together with ‘aina & iman…they love to ‘balik kampung’ whenever the opportunity arises…abema will pick them on sunday anyway…

early saturday morning, ‘aina and me went to TGV Bukit Raja to watch ‘Bedtime Stories’…
yeay…I like it…say 4.38 stars…a good humoured one with Adam Sandler…I am enjoying every single movie he’s starring in…especially 50 first dates…nice! ohh yaa – pipah turns 25 on this very same 27th december 2008…hepi besday pah! may all your wishes come true! love you, babe! came sunday the 28th december, I attended yet another sohabat 9600’s wedding…ya laa limau, I think it’s the season…this particular month – I attended 3 and I turned down 5 invitations (but I wished them well – aminn…)…

it was dhillarif’s reception at Dewan MBSA Seksyen 19…I came around 130pm as anem and her family were about to leave…not so long after that, dadie & her parents plus echah came and join me…dhillarif’s blessing ceremony at the dais ended around 150pm…then, the sweet couple had their ‘makan beradab’ for about half an hour…we had our photos taken after that…

...me, dadie, dhillarif, aiman, echah...
on the way out, I was stopped by ili, effa & hani…dadie & her company plus echah took their leave while I chose to stay for gossips and the sort…haa…according to ili, dhillarif’s husband was actually her former coursemate at Kuala Pilah matriculation centre…well well well…
after a while, we went to disturb dhillarif’s photography session at the dais…

...effa, me, dhillarif, aiman, hani, ili...
as we were about to leave, there came a crowd of fellow late sohabats…ergo, we took another snapshot of all that came…

back row from left: ili, effa, hani, aiman, dhillarif, siti, shera, dilasue

front row from left: nadi, yuyu, me, faezah

okaylaa, to tatong and dhillarif: wishing both of you & husbands love of a lifetime! (my default wish)…

finally, it was awal muharram 1430H…happy new year to all…I went back to UTP…

yesterday, 30th december 2008, I sat for the Operations Management exam…I was shocked that my name was not on the list…alaa…need to address this to the Examination Unit…the problem was most of the staffs are on leave…I still went for the exam and it was damn hard for 2 credits…I just want to pass…if not, I’ll pasrah laa…my current MSc status – Strategic Management classes will finish by 6th january and the exam will be on 16th january…then hopefully, I’ll be free…insyaAllah…I need to restart my career life soon (hehehe…ya kaa?!!)…

in the evening, I went to Ipoh with intan & her Indonesian coursemates (Mbak Lail, Mbak Afni, Mbak Inung)…here are the things I bought:

A white teddy holding a red rose – for ryan

A front-and-back dangling butterflies earrings – for me

A Sheila On 7 CD: Menentukan Arah – for ryan & me

...cuckooryu~~~

i went to Awana Kijal last week attending gas optimization training jointly organized by Newfield & Eastern Energy Services...it was my second time being there...this time my room was smaller as it is situated on the left wing - have the golf course view...
...two goose leisurely crossing the road near the junction to Monica Bay (read: Pantai Teluk Mak Nik)...
we had our 8-course Chinese set welcoming dinner courtesy of Eastern Energy Services upon arrival…yeay…I like the tofu (hot & cold appetizers) and I helped myself to a lot of butter prawns…they made it the way I like it to be…dried and crunchy…and I get to pick my favourite portion of the steamed fish – surely the head...
...my welcoming dinner treat - Assam Paste Steamed Grouper Fish Head...
classes start at 830am everyday and end at around 430pm…in the evening of the first day, as the weather was fine, I decided to swim together with Harni…yeay…the pool was exquisitely large – enough to cater the crowded guests swarming in…

on the second day free time, I went to Mesra Mall – hangout spot among the locals here…they got Secret Recipe, Popular, Giordano, Pizza Hut, Toys ‘R Us, Bodyshop, Starbucks, Carlo Rino, City Chain, Tomei, Reject Shop, Starbucks, Big Apple, Guardian and Rotiboy…Giant Hypermarket was about to open but I heard rumours that the State Government does not approve on the licence…ergo, the opening was put on hold until now…

...Mesra Mall tall signboard...

...me at Mesra Mall...
during this training, I get to meet long lost contacts as well…met CQ (PIPE II friend) at the pool area…met Emi (chemy friend – now working at PMO) – she attended other PETRONAS course conducted at Awana Kijal too…met Shahrandin at the Tuesday night market…met Bal on the third day – she was on the way to the offshore and also met my ex – Industrial Training supervisor: Cik Azizah – she was one of the instructor for Emi’s course…

on the third night’s stay, Emi invited us (me, Suzie, Harni & Shon) to have dinner at her place…yeay…thank you very much…I love your ‘Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak’…I had three rounds of ‘added plain rice’…and that same night, we spent quite some time entertaining Emi’s adorable 4 ½ months old baby girl Nabila Syazana a.k.a. Shasha…cakk!
I spend most of my free time at the beach to read…successfully completed reading Danielle Steel’s Sisters…recommended…at 3.97 stars…
...Awana Kijal's private beach...
...uuu...so windy...
...swooshhh...swooshh....huuu~~~
...well said...
...too rough, too wild...
the second last day saw that we went for the ‘keropok hunting’ at Kemaman town…I bought the boiled ‘keropok lekor’ as well as the dried long Tamban fish crackers for my family, Abema’s, Abie’s and Beebee’s…I even bought the bottled homemade Atiqah Chilli Sauce…we also stopped by at the Seri Geliga bahulu stall whereby Suzie bought some cermai bahulus for her family…the bahulu sold here is the hard skin type – used for long storage…

on our way back, we stopped by at the famous Kedai Kopi Hai Peng for a late tea break…I had a Nescafe C Ice and plain toasted bread with butter…

...yati's strike...

my pretty housemates and me went to the ampang superbowl at flamingo for a night out last Friday 12/12/2008...
the truth was suzie and me were accompanying yati for a bowling practice…we were there basically to cheer yati…I can play bowling but it’s just not on my ardent fun list…I’m still can’t figure out how it works…sometimes I’m just lucky and sometimes I terribly suck in the game…ergo, I only choose to play whenever the right mood is there or simply when the crowd is merrier…if not, sorry and thanks…

the same goes to suzie as well in this case leaving yati to bowl alone…whoa…I really salute you, babe!anyway, the practice went well…1st game allowed yati to warm up and get the ‘feel’…I thought maybe yati was feeling discouraged as she scored less than 100 points…

however, she proved us wrong when moving to the 2nd game where she eventually increased her previous score points to more than two fold difference making it to read as 159 points in total…yeay…yati’s a star…

later, a friend of suzie – ai came and joined us…so, suddenly yati got a ‘bound midwife’ competitor…both ai and yati played another 2 games…

see yati in action:

at the end of the day, we met our objectives…yati has gain her confidence to compete for the SPE bowling tournament on Saturday evening…all the very best darling…the outcome : yati was placed as the 2nd runner up winner…nice!

...i missed my kebayas...

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha to All...

i celebrated joyously with my family in Klang...yes,without any of my kebaya...in fact, i still haven't send any of my 4 pairs of cloth to my dressmaker...waarggh...

to be honest, i'm depressed with my weight management...

i've realised the 'heavy' problem about 2 months ago but i can't seem to control it as i'm still on medication...i need to take calcium pills which in turn affected my dietary behaviour...the drugs increases my appetite...i sooo hate this!

my closest dear girlfriends do notice and it doesn't comfort me at all of telling me that 'you're tall and still OK'...yaa...the fact that i'm still in the normal BMI range doesn't count laa...

i'm stressed really...currently, my figure is like - i'm not thin and i'm not fat but i'm missing my curves...on top of that - i become my own fashion victim...sad sad :(

i rarely wear pants to work - no more smart shirts...and i can't wear my kebayas - i'm still fit into them but that's just all it may be (have to constantly check on your sitting position, raising arms whatsoever)...now, i hang them in my closet as my key motivation...lalalalala...

i hate to shop nowadays as my temper rises whenever the size deviates from M...but, i need new wardrobes...waargghh...

one more thing is i hate to admit that i had this problem...whenever any of my concern friends raised the question, i'll surely blame my medication scheme as the reason...

i'm hoping that the coming new year will turn a new leaf for me...my target 55kg healthy weight will be on top of my new year 2009 resolutions...yeay...will start commencing on my 'counting calories all-you-can-eat diet' method on 1st January 2009...support me,okay?!!

i want to wear new kebaya by my 26th birthday!!!meaning - i need to gain back my curves by late March...insya-Allah...

p/s: en me - no offence yaa!

...my days as a YP advisor...

last week was a week of the exciting IPTC - International Petroleum Technical Conference 2008 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KL ConveC) from 3rd until 5th December 2008...what's in there for me?!!!ahh well, since i'm late at securing my place to become one of the limited delegates representatives for my department (you know, the HR people always left you out in terms of budgeting when you're off for quite sometimes - in my case, MSc studies laa), i purposefully volunteered myself to join in the committee of Education Week programme and become one of the YP advisor...

i was given a tag pass which denotes me as the Education Week Coordinator...yeay...with that, i got the opportunity to sneak into the panel session and access to some of the general talks and discussions as well as to visit the exhibition halls....on the day of the conference opening, i also got a chance to be in the Plenary Hall for the keynote session...yeay...

what i actually volunteered for?basically, YP stands for Young Professional...YP advisors are the volunteers coming from Education Week sponsored companies - PETRONAS, ExxonMobil, Shell, Talisman, Murphy Oil and Petrofac...as for the Education Week programme, it was an initiative by the SPE/IPTC group which selects 100 top students coming from 28 countries to gather and work on a project-based activities...overall, there were 10 projects with 10 members per group basis...

i was to accompany Group 5 and our project was titled - Large Offshore Gas with High CO2 Content Development...i was not expected to provide the solutions for the project...my role was more on to guide the students on teamwork and time management...most of the time, i felt like i was Carolyn in 'The Apprentice' - become the eyes and the ears of the team...

on Monday, i went to the welcoming dinner where the committee introduced the YP advisors to the group of students...we had the stall-setting style buffet dinner at Restoran Seri Melayu, Jalan Conlay...it was my first time being there...i had a great time and enjoy the food especially the Assam Laksa and Satay...

my job begins on Tuesday where we had our ice-breaking session...my group was led by an Italian student...and most of the YP advisors thought that he's the most handsome student this time around...hahaha...his name was Michel and i just found out that he actually got 3 nationalities - italy, spain & venezuela...cool,huh?!!

the students in my group are very bright and they were fully prepared beforehand....since they were students, i discovered that they were so detail-oriented...and it was amusing to see different kinds of characters working together...i noticed that 3 of them were very active in discussions - a bubbly Australian chic, a cute American guy and a chubby Indonesian guy...there was this arrogant Turkey girl (she's very beautiful, though) and 2 decent Chinese girls (1 Malaysian and another one is from the Mainland China)...there were also 2 quiet, observant guys from Oman and Poland...and lastly, there's one passenger in the team - an African guy...

on the 3rd day (wednesday), it was the day of the conference opening...after the keynote session, we were to bring the students to listen to several technical presentations and later work on their projects until the late evening...my group decided to gather information by visiting the booths at the exhibition halls...

thursday was the day of field trips whereby the students were divided into 3 big groups to visit 3 different places - the Schlumberger's Lab at Rohas Perkasa, the PETROSAINS Discovery Centre at Level 4 KLCC and the PETRONAS Visualisation Centre (PViC) at Tower 2 KLCC...as expected,i was assigned to led the students to PViC (i'm a dedicated PMU staff)...apart from the visit to PViC, we also brought the students to have a quick tour at the Skybridge at Level 42...they were very delighted indeed...

the group presentations were held yesterday morning at Room 403/404, KL ConveC...each group was given 10 minutes presentation time with 5 minutes of Q & A session at the end...the panel judges includes Dr Keith Boyle (IPTC representative) and managers from sponsored companies...

i thought that my group did a great job...the bubbly Australian and the cute American were the presenters...surprisingly, the passenger in my group - the African guy stood up for the Q & A session...maybe he sensed that this is the time for him to contribute...i'm very proud of my group...and guess what, our group was the Best Group...yeay...the students received a pewter plague engraved with their name on it, a souvenir token and a certificate of participation...

we had a group photo session at Level 3 social area...will post the picture later once i receive the softcopy...in a nutshell, i've gained a memorable experience...it was really nice getting to know the students with various backgrounds...i've also network with the other YP advisors...nice!

in the end, i got a nice Murphy Oil backpack accompanied with a Talisman laser pointer/LED/UV light, a Chevron desk calendar, a Saudi Aramco - Pierre Cardin's laptop sleeve and a Schlumberger's 2GB USB Flash Drive Business Card size...yeay...happy happy...

...shaif's white wedding...

last sunday night, i went to Shaif's white wedding dinner reception at Kampung Pengantin Kuala Lumpur...it was a grand event attended by close relatives, friends and colleagues...Shaif was one of my PIPE II friend - Janda Baik groupmate...he's also quite an active member for EXCITE (once upon a time in PMU)...recently, Shaif has moved to PCSB...

...me...

...Pipah...

the event started off with the lovely couple (Shaif & Elin) paraded in to the grand high dinner table with a background keyboard playing to the tune of 'Love Story'...once they reached the high table, an Ustaz was called to bless the occasion with the doa recital...then, we were shown a slideshow presentation of Shaif's solemnization event which took place at Elin's hometown in Malacca the previous week...

...our dinner table...

Pipah and me shared a table with 3 of Shaif's former bosses from PMU...later, our friends joined in which includes Farrah Iz, Nik & Marissa as well as Khairool & Wir...we were well-served with Nasi Minyak accompanied by 3 dishes consists of Red Gravy Chicken, Beef Rendang and Sweet & Sour Fried Fish together with 2 kinds of gravy - Lentil Curry and Tomato Chutney plus Cucumber and Pineapple Vinegar Pickles...we really enjoyed our meals as it was raining...hee...and the guests were also entertained by Elin's friends - 'The Tangerines' throughout the dinner...they sang a mix round of ballads...i enjoyed listening to 'Linger' and also a chic performance of 'Tiru Macam Saya'...

...the Tangerines...

...three sweeties - FarrahIz, me and Pipah...

in the middle of the night, Raja Badrin or Abang came into the limelight to share some words of wisdom - 10 things you should know about Shaif...then, it was the 3-tiers cake cutting ceremony...during this time, we were served with vanilla ice cream with mint leaf...

...Shaif & Elin - cake cutting ceremony...

the whole event ended nearly 1030pm...we didn't stay long for the photo session at the dais located at the preparation room and ended up taking a quick shot during taking leave at the exit...to Shaif & Elin - wishing both of you love of a lifetime...

before the show, we had our lunch at Secret Recipe…i only had mushroom soup with ice lemon tea since i’m still full after having fried meehoon for breakfast…Intan ordered her favourite beef lasagna…the service was quite poor…after waiting for quite sometime, we were eased by the ‘on the house’ appetizer…we were given the tapioca chips served with Thai chilli sauce dip…that could actually costs us another RM4 minus the taxes…huhuhu…

Madagascar 2 was an awesome movie… i enjoyed the early part where the gang were having extreme plane journey with the Skipper’s group ‘Penguin Air’ flight…i laughed most of the time…there were also a lot of touching moments – parents & child, friendship values, friends’ love…the plot was light and lasted for merely 1.5 hours…

after the movie, we went to perform our Zohor prayer…since it was still early, i went to the Center Court to have a peek at the ‘Popular Book Fair’…yeay…happy happy too because i got a real deal of three books for less than rm70…it was like buying 2 books and get 1 for free…i bought Danielle Steel – Sisters, Dorothy Koomson – My Best Friend’s Girl and a compilation by David Tong: Laughter, the best Malaysian…these has added to my ‘yet to read’ booklist…9 altogether, okay…and i’m eyeing to purchase 4 more books that i’ve surveyed at MPH recently…what to do…what to do…so much to read, so little time…i need long holidays…just for me and my books…lalalalala… Intan and me decided to have our Asar prayer before heading back…

because of the good weather that evening, we stopped at the J&E Car Wash Centre in front of the Courts next to Kinta City…ryan had a standard bath for rm10…expensive laa wei…in KL, ryan could get a better bath for rm8 at Caltex station (near the traffic light junction at Wangsa Maju LRT station)…the best absolutely is in Klang, rm5 only (at Kay SS Car Wash)…i’m not comparing based on the price, okay…the quality is more or less the same…i don’t see any difference as each of them is using the Snow Wash technique…they puffed the soap from the machine…they are also using the same conventional vacuum cleaner…logically the one giving you the lowest price is the best, right?!! enough said…

at around 530pm, we were on our way back to UTP…ohh…wait…it was Wednesday evening and the weather was fine…it was time for Taman Maju night market – my routine when i was in my undergrad years…i really missed those times…and guess what, when Abie and me were in our 1st year, we cycled (seriously we cycled) to Taman Maju to get to the night market…ohh yaa…Harni, do you still remember? sometimes, you do follow us, right? we went straight there after having our lab session at Block B (now – UTP Gymnasium)…i still can’t believe we used to cycle…hohoho…a long, long way man…even with cars…how can we cycle back then?!! whoaa..i’m impressed with myself right now…kuangkuangkuang…

during my 2nd year, it was Uncle Devan’s bus time…rm1 for return trip…

in my 3rd year onwards, Shin Chan was already with me and retentate…

hurmm...what is so special with Taman Maju night market?!! definitely of the fairs that i can’t find in any night markets in KL…

let’s start with my favourite kebab stall – Nur Ain Atikah Kebab Ayam…I always ordered the Pita Bread Chicken Kebab without mayonnaise and chilli sauce (tomato ketchup, please)…ohh...so heavenly...
next, the famous ‘Rojak Berkat’…the pakciks usually had already pre-packed either rm2 or rm3 rojak items but my girlfriends and i prefer to choose our own combinations…then only we get to opt for the rubber squid and fried small fishballs…
for heavy main course, Abie used to buy either Beriyani Rice or Tomato Rice from this ‘Pak Cik Topi’ stall…he got that name simply because he is the pakcik who wears a cowboy hat…i love Kerabu Rice with roasted beef from this Kelantanese family stall…however, you need to get there early to avoid long queue… the best Yong Tau Foo soup version is at Chef Kadir Yong Tau Foo stall…Beebee loves the ‘kain buruk’ and i like the soft stuffed tofu…they give you the hot shrimp paste sauce if you opt for the soup version…or you may go with the normal honey peanut sauce…the best noodle soup (be it mee, meehoon, kuey teow) can be found at this Indonesian lady stall…soto are nice too because of the power of the soup…
however, i usually buy Satay Padang at this stall…it is very very nice and different from our normal satay…Satay Padang is a serving of marinated, grilled beef satays with pressed rice together with thick, spicy herbs sauce and beef floss…the taste is irresistibly hot… okay, now, let me bring you to the snacks / light foodstuffs that i enjoy…a must-have for me are the currypuffs from this ‘Nenek Orang Kampung’ stall…yaa…she put sausages as fillings for the ‘Karipap Hotdog’…innovative, right?!! i also like to buy this Percik Gravy Grilled Fishballs…simply marvellous… a healthy choice would be Wizam Pau…i love the savoury ones either Chicken or Beef steamed pau… not so healthy choices are Samosa (at Pakcik Alim stall – the pakcik this time is wearing kupiah)…
also not so healthy snacks are the Keropok Lekor at Pakcik Kurus Misai & Makcik Gemuk’s stall… back to healthy options are the steamed mini Apom Tapai and sweet mini cup jellies at the Kakak Pregnant stall…but now that Kakak has already delivered her baby (the name does not tally anymore laa kan)… another healthy option snacks that I like are the wet Popiah S. S. Ali…the fried ones are not so healthy choice…ahh well…the wet ones are the crowd pullers anyway… Murtabak Erina is the best murtabak…or rather, they have cute looking murtabak sellers (a cute pakcik with his 3 cute sons)… ohh…actually, it was raining (maybe in the late afternoon)…that’s why i can’t seem to locate my 4 other favourite stalls…1) the rm1.20 per small, clear glass cup Fried Kuey Teow stall (a makcik with her daughter)… 2) the maize stall selling all varieties (steamed corn in cup, boiled corn on the cob, grilled corn and even popcorn)… 3)the fresh soya bean stall with the best tau foo fah and cendol (Makcik Soya Van)… 4)the char kuay stall (they even sell their char kuays at Kuala Kangsar’s Sunday morning market)…

finally, i’ll end this entry with the drinks i like at Taman Maju night market…my recommendations would be either to have Coconut Shake at Ashpey Corner…a refreshing mixture of Vanilla ice-cream with some evaporated milk and young coconut juice with crushed ice…so wonderfully nice… or take the fresh fruit juices offered by Abang Gaban’s stall… it is better without ice…two thumbs up for Honey Mango and Kedondong juices
