Eugene McCarthy (1954-) was born in Oakland, California and grew up in Augusta, Georgia. A member of ΦΒΚ, McCarthy received his higher education (BS Mathematics, MS and PhD Genetics) at the University of Georgia, where he studied, taught, and conducted research in biology and genetics for 18 years. His first book, the controversial "Hybrid Hypothesis," which explores the possibility that humans are hybrids, is published on his website Macroevolution.net, as is his book on evolutionary theory "On the Origins of New Forms of Life." He is also the author of "Online Biology Dictionary." In print, he has published "Handbook of Avian Hybrids of the World" (Oxford University Press, 2006), and as kindle books "Gilgamesh: A Reconstruction," his translation of the ancient epic poem, as well as "The Department," where he pokes fun at the wacky and sometimes despicable behavior he observed in the hallowed halls of academe.
