It is a bit horrific to me that most of these people seem to have died during my lifetime. And far worse: that the voting rights they fought for are being taken away, also during my lifetime.
We don't have quite the same history here in Canada, but our hands are not clean here either. And what happens politically with our Southern neighbour has a strong impact on our people and attitudes. The right wing asshats are feeling emboldened up here, and I'd really rather that they didn't have like-minded people in power across the border to chum up with.
